We drink a lot of soda in my house. With soda prices going up all the time, this habit gets expensive. It also results in a ton of returnables. A few months ago, we decided to give the SodaStream Fountain Jet a try. I’d seen these machines around and wondered about them, but was afraid to invest in one. Finally, a friend purchased one and gave it rave reviews so I bit the bullet.
I wish we’d made the switch sooner.
The Fountain Jet is easy to use. It takes just a minute to get the soda ready and the flavor added. I have to admit, I get a bit of a kick out of carbonating the water. I love pressing buttons so making soda with a button press appeals to me.
Not only is there a financial benefit, there is also an environmental one as well. The CO2 cylinders are fully recyclable and affordable. Exchange cylinders are less expensive than new cylinders as an added incentive to recycle the empties. The plastic bottles are re-usable so we don’t have to make an extra effort to recycle empty cans and bottles.
We’ve tried about a dozen different syrup flavors. Some taste more like the national brands than others, but we’ve enjoyed most of the flavors we’ve tried. My personal favorite is the Diet Pink Grapefruit.

Thanks for your feedback. I have seriously been considering the purchase of a sodastream, but the high price tag always seemed to push me away. I think after reading this Vikki, I am seeing that it may well be a good investment, we drink so much soda in our home, it may well pay for itself in about a month. lol
Glad I could help! I was really gun shy with it myself. It’s not a cheap machine, but it’s worth it. If you do get one, I recommend ordering the 130L exchange cylinders on the SodaStream site. They ship them via UPS right to your door and waive the shipping fee. They also include a box with a return label attached to return the empty cylinder. Let me know if you buy one. I’d like to hear how it works out for you.
