Getting re-acquainted with musical theater

I’ve been a fan of musical theater for years.  It was an interest my mom started with Jesus Christ Superstar and it’s just grown over the years.  I participated in school plays and choir in fifth grade and right into college.  My involvement in theater since I left college has been pretty much been limited to spectator level.  I watch videos, listen to recordings, and sing along at top volume when I’m alone in the car.  When I can afford it and time allows, I love to go to the theater.

Stephen and I went to Lyric Music Theater last year to see Rent.  The show was wonderful and re-ignited my desire to get involved.  I submitted my name to volunteer for future shows and I start this week with Thoroughly Modern Millie.  I’ll be working behind the scene operating the light board.  I’ve done stagehand work before, but this will be my first time operating the equipment.  I have some nerves about getting involved when I know so few people, but I’m looking forward to it.  It should be a lot of fun.

If you’re in the area, come see the show!  Ticket info is available at
